Words from the tower……..

My name is Terre Slater and I work in (and spend most of my life in..) a building in downtown Syracuse, NY called ‘The State Tower Building’ – known for it’s art deco design and the fact that it’s the tallest building in downtown.

I own an interpreting agency called Empire Interpreting Service. We contract with customers to provide Interpreters to facilitate communication between people that speak differing languages. Most of our work is done on site – such as in hospitals, colleges, court rooms, etc – however we also do telephone interpreting which basically means ‘over the phone’.

This blog will be a way for me to communicate our story…from beginning to everyday workings…to what’s current in our world at EIS and the world of interpreting and linguistics in general. And hopefully a way for you to get to know us better.
